The island of St Helena are looking for a General Practitioner for a 2 year Fixed Term Contract starting June 2024
St Helena Island is a self-governing overseas territory of the United Kingdom, located in the tropical South Atlantic.

Their 22-bed General Hospital in the capital, Jamestown, covers all areas of acute medical and surgical care. Responsible for out-patient clinics at various locations every week you will cover various clinical needs for adults and children, including diabetes, hypertension and cardio-pulmonary disease which are highly prevalent on the island. You will also be expected to deal with paediatrics, ENT and ophthalmology patients.
You will join their team of Medical officers, taking care of in-patients. You will be on the primary on-call rota (approximately 1 in 4) in the triage and attendance of urgent care and emergencies. There will be on-call cover from specialist colleagues in anaesthetics/intensive care, general surgery, and obstetrics/gynaecology. You will also attend clinical emergencies and urgent care duties, incident management, outbreak response and other healthcare emergencies.

- Salary: £85,000pa (total remuneration c. £100,000 including allowances)

Qualifications required for this role:
- Full G.M.C. registration or equivalent and good standing with that body
- You must be on the UK General Medical Council GP register or Specialist Register for Internal Medicine or equivalent registration authority in country of practice
- Have recent ATLS, APLS certification or equivalent
