About the Job

THE ROLE

You will be joining a service of 13 Psychiatrists and will be required to provide Clinical Leadership in the provision of a community-based Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service.  You will be required to participate in the Mental Health Services post-graduate training activities and continuous medical education. There are increased demands on the current teams with increasing presentations of complex, comorbid mental health disorders and in particular self-harm and suicidal presentations.

The initial commitment for this post will be for 37 hours per week. This post may be subject to restructuring in the future to facilitate the reorganisation of acute services in line with new clinical models of acute and community services. It is noted that the post must be congruent with the requirements of, and facilitate implementation of national health policy, the HSE’s National Clinical Programmes, including a commitment to deliver the relevant performance outcomes.

12-month fixed-term contract initially with a view to becoming permanent.

Mental Health Services in the region cover hospital and community care and initiatives for those who require specific mental health supports, across the 2 counties. CKCH serve a population of 736,489 people, (CSO, 2022) and is one of the largest extended health catchment areas in the country.

WHAT IS ON OFFER?   A package totalling up to €300,000 per annum.

  • Basic pay of € 231,215 - € 277, 736 on a six-point scale
  • Up to €20,000 oncall
  • 37-hour week
  • Additional remuneration for on-call duties and overtime as applicable
  • Highly flexible contract that enables consultants opt for a variety of different work patterns
  • Up to €12,000 CME and €8,000 research grant
  • Relocation costs up to €3000
  • Maximum tax rate of 40% in Ireland

You will also have the freedom to engage in off-site private practice, in the same way as allowed in the NHS.

  • Specialist Registration with the Irish Medical Council or eligibility for Specialist Registration in the specialities of Psychiatry.
