Opportunity:
The Trauma and Orthopaedics Registrar will support the provision of high-quality orthopaedic care, both elective and emergency, to inpatients and outpatients under the supervision of Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeons. The post involves participation in ward rounds, trauma calls, outpatient clinics, theatre sessions, and on-call rotas
Clinical Duties:

Participate in the assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of patients with musculoskeletal conditions and injuries.

Manage acute orthopaedic trauma patients in A&E and inpatient settings.

Conduct and assist in ward rounds, pre- and post-operative care.

Perform and assist in surgical procedures under consultant supervision.

Attend and run orthopaedic outpatient clinics and fracture clinics.

Participate in multidisciplinary meetings and discharge planning.
On-Call Duties:

Participate in the on-call rota for trauma cover, including evenings, weekends, and public holidays.

Provide emergency orthopaedic care and initial management of trauma cases.
Administrative Duties:

Complete timely and accurate clinical documentation and discharge summaries.

Assist in audit, quality improvement initiatives, and clinical governance activities.

Ensure compliance with hospital policies and standards.
Educational and Training Commitments:

Attend departmental teaching, journal clubs, and regional educational sessions.

Participate in audit, research, and continuing medical education (CME).
-
Supervise and support junior doctors and medical students as appropriate.
Salary scale for this appointment: €68,209 €70,836 €73,399 €75,286 €77,799 €80,323
