The Hospital
Darling Downs Health provides services to nearly 300,000 people across 30 facilities, including a major regional referral hospital in Toowoomba. The service covers:
- 1 large regional referral hospital and extended inpatient mental health service
- 3 regional hub hospitals, 11 rural hospitals, and 4 multipurpose health services
- Primary health clinics, community care units, general practices, and residential aged care
The department is committed to high-quality, evidence-based care, professional development, and fostering research and teaching in collaboration with the University of Queensland.
The Role
As a General Medicine Consultant, you will provide
- Comprehensive inpatient, outpatient, consultation, and procedural services
- Clinical leadership within the General Medicine team and across multi-disciplinary services
- On-call coverage across Emergency and General Medicine wards, including Admissions, Discharge and Transfer Ward (ADTW)
- Support for rural outreach via telehealth and occasional ward rounds/clinics
- Active involvement in education and supervision of junior doctors, registrars, and medical students
- Participation in clinical governance, peer review, and quality improvement initiatives
Applicants must hold Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) or equivalent, and be eligible for Specialist registration with AHPRA.
