The Role
Launceston General Hospital is a major Tasmanian referral centre providing comprehensive healthcare services. Its Pathology Department plays a central role in diagnostic excellence, supporting both inpatient and outpatient care. The hospital fosters multidisciplinary collaboration, research, and innovation while offering staff an excellent work-life balance in a beautiful, natural setting.
As a Consultant Pathologist, your responsibilities will include:
- Delivering expert services in Anatomical Pathology, Cytopathology, and Post-Mortems as required.
- Assisting in patient management in consultation with other clinical services.
- Contributing to clinical guidelines, peer review, and quality improvement initiatives.
- Actively participating in hospital committees, safety programs, and continuous professional development.
- Supporting a consumer-focused approach and maintaining a safe working environment, aligned with WH&S and child-safe standards.
Essential Qualifications & Requirements
- Specialist or limited registration (or eligibility) with the Medical Board of Australia
- Completion of an accredited Australasian (RCPA) or equivalent overseas training program in Pathology.
- Demonstrated ability to provide high-quality inpatient and outpatient care.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
- Experience in Cytopathology and Post-Mortem procedures.
