Head Medical is working with the Tasmanian Health Service to recruit General Medicine Registrars based at Launceston General Hospital - a key teaching hospital offering excellent clinical exposure and strong academic support.
This role is broadly equivalent to Core Medical Training (IMT), Basic Specialist Training (BST)
- Rotations across multiple medical specialties within an accredited teaching hospital
- Structured training programme with strong RACP exam preparation support
- Exposure to both inpatient and outpatient medicine

- Salary: AUD $138,978 – $194,675 (commensurate with experience)
- 12-month contract commencing February 2027
The Role
Launceston General Hospital is a 400-bed teaching hospital and the major referral centre for Northern Tasmania.
This position offers a broad-based medical training and service role, ideal for doctors looking to develop their experience in General Medicine and its subspecialties.
You will:
- Participate in the day-to-day management of medical patients
- Rotate through a wide range of specialties including Cardiology, Respiratory, Gastroenterology, Neurology and more
- Work under the guidance and support of experienced Consultant Physicians
- Participate in on-call duties and multidisciplinary team collaboration

Eligibility
- Eligible for registration with AHPRA via the Competent Authority pathway
- Experience at Core Medical Trainee / Basic Specialty Training in General Medicine
