The Role

This role is particularly suited to doctors who have gained experience within Emergency Medicine and are looking to further develop their clinical skills, increase their autonomy, and broaden their exposure within a busy tertiary Emergency Department.  Whether you are looking to build on existing Emergency Medicine experience or further develop your skills within a tertiary referral centre, this position offers excellent clinical exposure, structured education, and significant career development opportunities.

You will provide emergency care to patients attending the Emergency Department whilst working alongside an experienced multidisciplinary team of Emergency Physicians, Nursing and Allied Health staff.

Before You Apply

Applicants should ideally have:

  • Completed Foundation Training (UK), Intern Year (Ireland) or equivalent postgraduate hospital training
  • Previous experience within Emergency Medicine and a demonstrated interest in developing a career in emergency care
  • Experience working within a healthcare system comparable to Australia, such as the UK, Ireland, or New Zealand

The Location

Hobart offers a unique combination of career development and lifestyle that is difficult to match elsewhere.

As Tasmania's capital city, Hobart provides all the benefits of modern city living without the long commutes and congestion found in larger metropolitan centres.

Outside of work, you'll enjoy:

  • Stunning coastlines, beaches and national parks
  • Hiking, mountain biking, climbing and water sports on your doorstep
  • A thriving food, wine and café culture
  • Excellent schools and family-friendly communities
  • Easy access to Melbourne and Sydney via frequent daily flights

Tasmania is renowned for its natural beauty, welcoming communities and exceptional work-life balance, making it a popular destination for doctors seeking both professional development and quality of life.  Whether you enjoy hiking, mountain biking, sailing, surfing, photography, food and wine, or simply spending more time outdoors, Tasmania offers a lifestyle that is increasingly difficult to find elsewhere.
