The Role
South West Healthcare is seeking a positive, enthusiastic, team-orientated Emergency Medicine Consultant to provide and coordinate emergency medical services to patients within the community and region. The optimal candidate will have fellowship or eligibility for fellowship of the Australian College for Emergency Medicine (ACEM), excellent interpersonal skills and an interest in clinical teaching and mentoring.
In addition to your responsibilities in clinical care, supervision of junior clinical staff, and clinical education, there are established development opportunities in ultrasound, simulation education, medical student education through Deakin University, emergency and rural emergency medicine, quality improvement, department and organisational leadership, and many other areas of specific interest. There is even an opportunity for succession into a clinical director or co-director role for interested candidates.
Requirements
Applicants should be registered (or eligible for registration) as a specialist with the Medical Board of Australia and be a Fellow of the Australasian College for Emergency Medicine (FACEM) or equivalent as an overseas trained specialist who has completed their training in either the UK, Ireland, Canada, USA (ABEM) or New Zealand.

South West Healthcare offers a comprehensive range of medical, surgical and psychiatric services. The organisation serves a catchment in excess of 110,000 and comprises of a total of 282 beds and an extensive range of primary and community services.
This regional centre currently has a 15-bed Emergency Department, multiple specialities and sub-specialities on-call, with around 26,000 ED presentation per year. The health service has received $384 million in funding for redevelopment, which will include a band new 38 bed Emergency Department.
