Head Medical is seeking experienced Resident Doctors (PGY4+) to join the Department of Surgery at Hervey Bay and Maryborough Hospitals. This is an excellent opportunity for doctors who have completed Core Surgical Training or have a minimum of two years' General Surgical experience following Foundation Training and are looking to further develop their surgical experience.

  • Competitive remuneration – $137,861 – $151,417 per annum, depending on experience.

The Role

Wide Bay Hospital and Health Service provides a comprehensive range of public hospital and health services to communities across the Wide Bay and Fraser Coast regions of Queensland, serving a population of approximately 225,000.

You will join an experienced surgical team and gain broad exposure to elective and emergency General Surgery, perioperative care and the management of surgical inpatients.

Working under the supervision and direction of senior medical staff, your responsibilities will include ward rounds, assessment and review of patients, arranging investigations and treatment, discharge planning and assisting with procedures and outpatient clinics. You will also participate in the after-hours roster, including night and weekend shifts.

The role offers an excellent opportunity to further develop your clinical skills while working closely with senior medical staff in a supportive multidisciplinary environment. You will also have opportunities to contribute to clinical teaching, departmental meetings and continuing professional development.

This opportunity is particularly well suited to:

  • Doctors with a minimum of two years' General Surgical experience following Foundation Training.
  • Doctors looking to broaden their experience across elective and emergency General Surgery within a busy regional hospital.
  • Doctors seeking to develop their perioperative and acute surgical skills
