Head Medical are seeking post foundation doctors for General Medicine opportunities in Gisborne. This is a great out of programme experience which will allow you to broaden your clinical skills in a unique setting. These positions offer a balance of professional growth and lifestyle in one of New Zealand’s most beautiful coastal regions.
The Role
Gisborne Hospital is a 115-bed acute care facility serving a population of around 50,000 across the East Cape. With Māori making up 65% of admissions and nearly half of the local population, the hospital has a strong commitment to Māori health, culture, and customs, making this an incredibly rewarding environment for doctors new to New Zealand. As a well-equipped secondary hospital, Gisborne provides a broad range of services including general medicine, surgery, paediatrics, obstetrics, orthopaedics, ICU, emergency medicine, mental health, and rehabilitation. On-site diagnostics include both MRI and CT, supporting a comprehensive range of clinical services.
- Join three acute medical teams with an unselected medical take – varied presentations and pathology.
- Work closely with consultants and specialists in General Medicine, Respiratory, Cardiology, and ICU.
- Participate in admissions, inpatient care, and multidisciplinary management.
- Access to educational opportunities including protected teaching, journal clubs, and clinical skills sessions.
