The Hospital
Whangārei Hospital is a 246-bed regional facility providing comprehensive secondary care to a population of around 194,000. You will join a dynamic and supportive Emergency Medicine team, working closely with consultants and senior registrars to further develop your clinical skills and decision-making confidence.
The hospital services a large geographical area of 12,600 square kilometres, with emergency services extending to three regional hospitals in Kaitaia, Dargaville, and the Bay of Islands. Facilities include a 7-bed Intensive Care and High Dependency Unit, with helicopter retrievals and inter-hospital transfers forming part of the service.
There is an active clinical training programme featuring weekly teaching sessions, simulation-based learning, journal clubs, and video conferencing .
