Head Medical is seeking experienced Acute/Crisis Psychiatry Doctor to join a supportive and highly regarded Mental Health service in Dunedin, New Zealand. Work across Emergency Psychiatry and Acute Inpatient Services within a well-established multidisciplinary team.

Ideal for doctors progressing at ST3–ST7 level (or equivalent), or experienced Specialty Doctors looking to further develop their clinical experience. Please note this is not a Consultant-level position.

  • Comprehensive Mental Health Service including inpatient, community, addiction, forensic and liaison Psychiatry

  • Excellent consultant support and structured induction
  • Salary  -$152,694 - $222,476 NZD (commensurate with experience)

The Role

This position involves both Crisis Psychiatry, with the Acute Inpatient Unit.  The role involves psychiatric assessment, treatment planning and clinical leadership whilst working closely within a highly supportive multidisciplinary team environment.

The wider Mental Health Service in Dunedin is well-resourced by international standards and includes community mental health teams, inpatient services, addiction, forensic, old age, child and adolescent, intellectual disability and consult liaison psychiatry services. Family and whānau involvement is strongly prioritised across the service.

You will contribute to delivering high-quality contemporary psychiatric care to the Otago population and participate in the wider Southern district on-call roster. There is also strong involvement in teaching, supervision and ongoing professional development.
