The Role

The service provides comprehensive healthcare across a large and diverse region of Queensland, delivering medical, surgical, emergency, paediatric, mental health, critical care, and specialist services to a growing population.

The department is actively involved in physician training and provides opportunities to supervise and mentor doctors in training and medical students.

This is a rewarding opportunity to provide specialist respiratory and sleep medicine services across inpatient, outpatient, and procedural settings while contributing to the strategic development of the service.

Alongside delivering high-quality clinical care, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Develop and enhance Respiratory and Sleep Medicine services
  • Establish a comprehensive bronchoscopy service
  • Undertake advanced bronchoscopy training and accreditation
  • Lead multidisciplinary collaboration across respiratory, radiology, pathology, and oncology teams
  • Establish regular lung cancer multidisciplinary meetings
  • Build strong relationships with referring clinicians and community stakeholders
  • Participate in teaching, supervision, research, and quality improvement activities

The successful candidate will join a collaborative team of physicians representing a broad range of specialties including General Medicine, Endocrinology, Nephrology, Neurology, Infectious Diseases, Oncology, Rheumatology, Rehabilitation Medicine, and Palliative Care.

What We're Looking For:

We welcome applications from Respiratory & Sleep Medicine Consultants who have completed specialist training and hold a recognised specialist qualification, including CCT (UK), CSCST (Ireland), ABIM certification (USA), RCPSC certification (Canada), Vocational Registration (New Zealand), or an equivalent qualification recognised for specialist assessment in Australia.

You will have:

  • Experience managing a broad range of respiratory conditions across inpatient and outpatient settings.
  • Procedural experience in bronchoscopy, with an interest in further developing advanced respiratory services.
  • A commitment to multidisciplinary working, clinical governance, teaching, and service development.
  • Excellent communication skills and a patient-centred approach to care.
