The Role
Mackay Base Hospital is the major referral centre for the Mackay Hospital and Health Service, providing specialist services to a population of approximately 182,000 people across a diverse region spanning the Mackay, Isaac and Whitsunday areas.
You will provide specialist respiratory and sleep medicine services across inpatient, outpatient and consultative settings, delivering contemporary, evidence-based care to a diverse regional population. The position offers an excellent balance of clinical practice, service development, teaching, and mentorship, making it an ideal opportunity for a physician seeking both professional challenge and lifestyle.
Working closely with the Clinical Director and multidisciplinary teams, you will contribute to the continued growth of Respiratory Medicine services, including bronchoscopy and procedural work, whilst supporting service innovation, quality improvement initiatives and outreach models of care.
What We're Looking For
We welcome applications from Respiratory & Sleep Medicine Consultants holding a recognised specialist qualification, including CCT (UK), CSCST (Ireland), FRACP (Australia/New Zealand), ABIM (USA), RCPSC (Canada) or an equivalent overseas qualification.
You will have:
- Experience managing a broad range of respiratory conditions across inpatient and outpatient settings
- Bronchoscopy experience and an interest in procedural respiratory medicine
- A commitment to multidisciplinary care, teaching, and service development
- Eligibility for specialist assessment and registration in Australia
