Opportunity:
Working as a Consultant in Obstetrics and Gynaecology within the HSE (Ireland's public health system), you'll provide high-quality care to patients in this leading university hospital based in South-East Ireland.
The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering high-quality women’s healthcare services across obstetrics, general gynaecology, and antenatal care, while also contributing to service development, education, and multidisciplinary care delivery.
Where possible, the post holder will participate with academic and clinical colleagues to enhance the hospital's research activities within the research governance framework.
Duties:
As the appointed Consultant, your duties will comprise, but are not limited to
Clinical

Provide comprehensive obstetric and gynaecological care, including antenatal, intrapartum, postnatal, and general gynaecological services.

Manage both elective and emergency patients, including theatre lists and outpatient clinics.

Participate in the labour ward roster, emergency gynaecology, and on-call rota.

Collaborate with midwives, nurses, paediatricians, anaesthetists, and other team members to deliver integrated maternity and gynaecology services.

Provide timely and effective communication with patients, families, and general practitioners.
Teaching and Supervision:

Supervise and support the education of medical students, interns, and NCHDs.

Participate in the development and delivery of training programmes in Obstetrics and Gynaecology.

Contribute to departmental clinical teaching sessions, case reviews, and multidisciplinary meetings.
Quality Improvement and Governance:

Participate in clinical audits, service evaluations, and quality assurance activities.

Contribute to patient safety initiatives and implementation of national clinical guidelines.

Assist in service planning, pathway development, and compliance with HSE standards and regulatory bodies.
Requirements to Apply:
Desirable criteria.

Prior experience working in an Irish or UK healthcare setting.

Certificate of Satisfactory Completion of Specialist Training (CSCST) in Obstetrics and Gynaecology or recognised equivalent.

Fellowship of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RCOG) or equivalent.
