The Role
Royal Hobart Hospital is seeking a Staff Specialist - Anatomical Pathology to join its established and collaborative pathology service.
For UK candidates, this represents an opportunity to continue your career as a Consultant Histopathologist within an Australian tertiary environment, providing specialist diagnostic pathology services across a broad range of surgical, oncology and multidisciplinary services.
You'll have the opportunity to:

Provide specialist Anatomical Pathology services within a tertiary referral environment

Contribute to MDTs and tissue review meetings
-
Teach medical students from the University of Tasmania

Supervise and train postgraduate specialist trainees
-
Develop research interests and contribute to research activities
-
Participate in quality improvement, clinical governance and service development

Work collaboratively with pathologists, scientists, clinicians and other healthcare professionals

Participate in the departmental on-call roster
The role offers a high degree of professional autonomy, supported by the Head of Department and Director of Pathology Services.
Qualifications & Eligibility
Applicants must meet the relevant Australian eligibility requirements, including either:

Specialist registration relevant to Anatomical Pathology; or
-
A recognised overseas specialist qualification and sufficient specialist experience to be assessed through the relevant RCPA pathway.

RCPA adult and perinatal autopsy certificates, or equivalent qualifications, are desirable but not essential
UK candidates: Consultant Histopathologists with FRCPath and CCT in Histopathology are encouraged to apply.
Specialist registration and RCPA Fellowship are separate processes, and individual eligibility will be determined by the relevant Australian regulatory bodies.
