The Role

The Royal Hobart Hospital is the largest tertiary referral centre in Tasmania, offering comprehensive mental health, emergency, and acute care services. The hospital provides a dynamic, team-oriented environment with a strong focus on patient-centered care, education, and professional development. You will join a culture that values collaboration, quality, and innovation while making a tangible difference in the community.
As a Specialty Doctor you will provide after-hours medical coverage across Mental Health Services, including the Emergency Department, inpatient units, and Short Stay Units. You will work with a high level of autonomy while liaising closely with consultants and the multidisciplinary team.

Responsibilities include:

  • Assess and manage patients referred by the Emergency Department and in inpatient wards
  • Document and maintain accurate clinical records, including admissions, progress, and discharge
  • Participate in discharge planning and provide guidance to junior doctors, residents, and medical students
  • Contribute to quality improvement, teaching, and professional development initiatives
