Head Medical is seeking post-Foundation Doctors (RMO/SHO/CT) for General Medicine opportunities at Whangārei Hospital. Work closely with Consultants across General Medicine, Cardiology, Geriatrics, Haematology, Oncology, Renal, and Acute Care of the Elderly

Active learning: Didactic sessions, journal clubs, interactive teaching, and RACP videoconferences

Lifestyle: Sub-tropical Northland, 2 hours from Auckland, gateway to the Bay of Islands, world-class diving, sailing, beaches, and outdoor adventures

Salary: $106,672 – $133,842 NZD (depending on experience)

The Hospital
Whangārei Hospital is a 246-bed regional facility providing secondary care services to ~194,000 people, including large rural catchments. You’ll gain exposure to a wide variety of conditions, including rheumatic fever, tuberculosis, and meningococcal disease, in both acute and outpatient settings.
Registrars work closely with Consultants with specialties in cardiology, diabetes, respiratory medicine, nephrology, and oncology, gaining a rich, hands-on experience. Supervision is strong, and professional development is actively encouraged.

Whangārei, known as the “Meeting Place of the Pacific,” is at the heart of Northland — one of New Zealand’s most scenic coastal regions, with a subtropical climate, rich Maori and European history, and a vibrant cultural mix. With white sandy beaches, native forests, and high sunshine hours, it’s a top lifestyle and holiday destination.
