Head Medical is seeking CMT level doctors keen to further expand their clinical experience within Cardiology. This is a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a wide range of cardiology services – from interventional procedures to advanced imaging – in a supportive, collaborative environment.

Hands-on procedures: Get real experience with angiograms, PCI, pacing, and device insertions.

Advanced diagnostics: Work with echo (including stress and TOE), cardiac MRI, CTCA, Holter monitoring, and more.

Collaborative learning: Learn from senior cardiologists and a supportive multidisciplinary team, with regular teaching and case discussions.

Broad patient exposure: Manage acute admissions, outpatient follow-ups, heart failure, and complex cardiac cases.
The Role
Mackay Base Hospital is the referral hospital for the Mackay HHS region, which covers Sarina, Clermont, Bowen, the Whitsundays, and surrounding areas. The redeveloped 236-bed hospital is Queensland’s first fully digital regional hospital, offering cutting-edge cardiac facilities, integrated electronic medical records, and specialist services across multiple disciplines. With a focus on patient care, education, and innovation, Mackay Base Hospital is an ideal place to broaden your cardiology experience and advance your training.

Work alongside 5 cardiologists, advanced trainees, registrars, and junior doctors in a fully supportive teaching environment.

Gain extensive experience in interventional and non-interventional cardiology, pacing, heart failure management, echo, stress testing, and advanced imaging including CTCA and cardiac MRI.

Participate in procedures including angiograms, PCI, and PPM/ICD insertions, as well as outpatient clinics and ward rounds.

Contribute to teaching, case presentations, and quality improvement initiatives while building your clinical experience.
