- Whakatāne
- Permanent 0.8 FTE opportunity
- Highly rewarding role and opportunity to make a difference!
About the Role
The Whakatāne Emergency Department provides 24/7 emergency and acute care to the people of the Eastern Bay of Plenty. This region of the Bay of Plenty has a predominantly Māori population and as such is an opportunity to experience living and working in a community with strong cultural bonds to the local Iwi. The department sees around 25,000 presentations per annum of which around 22% are admitted to hospital.
About the Team/Service/Location
Over the past four years, the department has invested in the growth of medical, nursing and allied health team members. This includes increasing the ED medical staff base, training and recruiting to advanced nursing roles along with encouraging the development of a multidisciplinary team to best meet the needs of patients. Medical staff working within the department cover a 24/7 roster. The department has been approved as a site for advanced trainee placement and as such we are looking forward to further developing education and training programmes for junior medical staff.
