Model 3 Hospital, which is part of the HSE Dublin and Midlands Integrated Health Area. The Hospital has 241 beds (203 inpatient, 29 day beds and a 6 bedded Medical Assessment Unit) and provides a range of services, on a 24 hour basis.
Services provided are Accident & Emergency, Anaesthesiology/Intensive Care, General Medicine including Medicine for the Elderly, Gastroenterology, Gerontology, Respiratory Medicine, Endocrinology and Cardiology, General Surgery including General Paediatric Surgery, Obstetrics &Gynaecology, Paediatrics, Haematology, Neurology, ECT in association with St Loman’s Hospital, Radiology, Pathology, Microbiology, Dermatology, & Out-Patient Services inc Ophthalmology
The Hospital also provides Nutrition and Dietetics, Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech & Language Therapy, Cardiac Diagnostic and Rehabilitation Services, Pulmonary Function Laboratory and Respiratory Services. The aim of the Hospital is to deliver a quality driven people centred service to the population of Longford/Westmeath and its wider catchment area.
The successful candidate will manage acute cases, supervise junior staff, and support emergency care delivery in one of the region’s busiest EDs. This role is ideal for doctors pursuing a career in Emergency Medicine or preparing for specialist training in Ireland.

Key Responsibilities

Perform timely clinical assessment and management of patients presenting to the ED.

Triage cases and make decisions on investigations, treatment, and disposition.

Lead resuscitations and trauma calls as required.

Supervise and support SHOs and medical students in clinical tasks and procedures.

Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including nursing, radiology, ICU, and specialty teams.

Contribute to departmental audits, quality improvement projects, and morbidity & mortality meetings.

Participate in the full ED rota, including nights, weekends, and on-call shifts.

Ensure detailed documentation and communication of clinical encounters and plans.

Take part in teaching sessions, simulation training, and clinical governance activities.
Requirements to Apply

Full registration in place with the Irish Medical Council (IMC)

Must have not worked for HSE Ireland in the past 36 months?
-
Must not have applied directly to HSE for any job opportunities?

A minimum of 24 months post-internship clinical experience is required.

Have an IELTS / OET Certificate? If yes, please confirm the pass rate

Have a current International Police Certificate

Able to take up the appointment by 14th of July 2025
