The Hospital and Role
One of four acute hospitals in Tasmania, Launceston General Hospital is a 300-bed Hospital and the major referral hospital for the residents of the North and North West of Tasmania, treating over 24,000 inpatients and over 225,000 outpatients annually.
Serving a population of approximately 300,000, the unit provides a comprehensive Level 6 Urology service across North and North-West Tasmania, along with statewide sub-specialist services. Our urology department is renowned for its supportive and collaborative culture. You’ll be joining a team of four experienced urologists who are committed to excellence in patient care, well supported by a team of registrars, including a SET trainee and clinical nurse specialist.
You will be expected to participate in satellite clinics and theatre lists at the Mersey Community Hospital as part of the Statewide Urological Service provision, and to participate in SET Registrar training and Multidisciplinary Team Meetings. Subspecialist interests are encouraged. Experience in female urology and robotics is highly valued.
Requirements
Applicants should be registered (or eligible for registration) as a specialist with the Medical Board of Australia and be a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS) or equivalent as an overseas trained specialist who has completed their training in either the UK, Ireland, Canada, USA (ABS certified) or New Zealand.
