Head Medical is seeking PGY3+ doctors with a genuine interest in Obstetrics & Gynaecology to join the supportive team at Whangārei Hospital.
This is an excellent opportunity for doctors looking to broaden their clinical experience within Obstetrics & Gynaecology, gaining exposure across labour ward, antenatal care, gynaecology clinics and theatre in a well-supported regional hospital.

- Structured teaching programme including didactic teaching, journal clubs, case discussions and video-conferenced education
- Join a supportive multidisciplinary team with excellent Consultant supervision
- Live in New Zealand's stunning Northland region, just two hours from Auckland, with world-class beaches, diving and outdoor adventures
- Salary: NZD $106,672 – $133,842 (dependent on experience)
- 12-month fixed-term contract
The Role
Whangārei Hospital is a modern 246-bed regional hospital providing secondary care services to a population of approximately 194,000 across Northland.
Working alongside experienced Consultants and Registrars, you'll gain valuable experience managing both acute and elective Obstetrics & Gynaecology patients across a wide variety of clinical settings.
Your experience will include:
- Labour Ward
- Antenatal clinics
- Gynaecology outpatient clinics
- Acute Obstetric & Gynaecology presentations
- Theatre sessions
- Inpatient ward management
You'll participate in a 1-in-7 roster, including long days, nights and weekends, whilst benefiting from a well-established teaching programme designed to support your clinical development through:
- Consultant-led teaching
- Journal clubs
- Interactive case discussions
- Video-conferenced education
- Regular multidisciplinary learning
