We currently have an excellent opportunity for an experienced Medical Director to join a growing health-tech business and play a pivotal role in shaping the future of personalised, preventative and evidence-led healthcare.

This is an exciting opportunity for a senior clinician who wants to operate beyond traditional clinical practice — combining medical leadership, clinical governance, research, scientific evidence and commercial strategy to help build the next generation of healthcare.

You will become a key member of the senior leadership team, working across research, genomics, commercial, education and operations.

The Medical Director will provide medical expertise and help strengthen relationships with doctors and healthcare organisations, expand the clinical evidence behind the company's testing portfolio, develop research partnerships and build propositions for health insurers and other healthcare providers.

The role

As Medical Director, you will be the organisation's senior medical authority and a highly visible medical ambassador.

You will provide the clinical credibility and leadership needed to ensure services, scientific claims, educational content and future developments are clinically robust, evidence-led and relevant to modern medical practice.

This is a broad and influential role for someone who enjoys thinking strategically, translating science into practical healthcare and building relationships across the medical and commercial landscape.

What you'll be responsible for

• Act as the senior medical authority, providing expert advice to the Executive and Senior Management Teams.

• Provide medical oversight of the functional and preventative health testing portfolio, including reviewing new tests.

• Review and sign off test reports, medical communications, educational content and practitioner-facing materials.

• Ensure clinical claims and positioning are scientifically credible, clinically appropriate and evidence-based.

• Translate research and scientific developments into clinically meaningful applications and educational resources.

• Represent the company with doctors, medical groups, clinics, healthcare organisations and other stakeholders.

• Bring a medical perspective to new products, services, partnerships and revenue opportunities.

• Support the development and maintenance of robust clinical governance frameworks.

• Act as Registered Manager with the CQC.

• Line manage the Genomics Manager and Research Scientists.

Essential requirements

• Full registration with the General Medical Council (GMC).

• Medical degree (MBBS, MBChB or equivalent).

• Significant clinical experience.

• Research experience in cancer, neurocognitive or cardiovascular health.

• Strong understanding of genetics.

• Demonstrable ability to critically evaluate scientific and medical literature.

• Strong understanding of clinical governance, patient safety and professional medical standards.

• Strategic and commercial awareness.

• Ability to work collaboratively across medical, research, commercial, operational and leadership teams.

Desirable

• Previous experience as a Medical Director, Clinical Director, Chief Medical Officer or in another senior medical leadership role.

• Experience within private healthcare, diagnostics, laboratory medicine, preventative health, personalised medicine or health technology.

• Experience working with GPs, private medical practices or consultant networks.
