
Job Title: Healthcare Support Worker – Operating Theatres
Location: Lanarkshire
Hours: Full time and Part time hours available
About the Role
We are currently seeking experienced Healthcare Support Workers (HCSWs) with operating theatre experience to join a busy and high-performing theatre team. This is an excellent opportunity to work within a fast-paced clinical environment, supporting surgical teams to deliver safe, effective, and patient-centred care.
You will play a vital role in supporting patients throughout their perioperative journey and assisting theatre staff before, during, and after surgical procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Preparing operating theatres and equipment in line with infection prevention and control standards
- Assisting with patient positioning, transfer, and comfort
- Supporting surgical, anaesthetic, and recovery teams as required
- Maintaining a safe, clean, and well-organised theatre environment
- Restocking equipment and consumables
- Following all policies, procedures, and clinical governance requirements
- Providing compassionate care and reassurance to patients at all times
Essential Requirements
- Previous experience working as a Healthcare Support Worker within operating theatres
- Strong understanding of operating theatre protocols, aseptic technique, and infection control
- Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- A flexible approach to working hours, including shifts where required
Desirable
- SVQ Level 2 or 3 in Healthcare Support (or equivalent)
- Experience across different surgical specialities
- Manual handling and basic life support training
