The facility commenced operation in October 1990. It is the designated national centre for Ophthalmology within Singapore’s public sector healthcare network, with a faculty of 90 Ophthalmologists and more than 800 staff. The organisation spearheads and coordinates the provision of specialized Ophthalmological services with emphasis on quality education and research. They manage more than 330,000 patient visits and performs over 35,000 surgeries and laser procedures annually. The Centre offers a full spectrum of subspecialties addressing every part of the eye – Cataract, Corneal & External Eye Disease, Cataract & Comprehensive Ophthalmology, Glaucoma, Neuro-ophthalmology, Ocular Inflammation & Immunology, Oculoplastic, Paediatric Ophthalmology and Adult Strabismus, Refractive Surgery, Surgical and Medical Retina.
- We are now welcoming applications from General Ophthalmologists, and also priority consideration given to candidates specializing in Medical Retina, Ocular Inflammation and Immunology, or Paediatric Ophthalmology & Adult Strabismus.
- The working hours are 44 hours per week (5-day work week, Mon to Fri) for full-time doctors.
- In addition, specialists are expected to do calls as rostered by their departments.

Please Note:
Applications can only be considered from Ophthalmologists who hold one of the following qualifications:
- Certification by one of the medical specialty boards of the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS)
- Fellowship with the Hong Kong Academy or College (FHKAM, FHKAM etc)
- Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT or CCST) awarded by a competent authority of the UK (Please note CESR is not recognised in Singapore)
- Certification by one of the Royal Colleges in Australia or New Zealand
