Working as part of a skilful multi-disciplinary team, Head Medical are seeking a Consultant in Orthopaedic Surgery who specialises in Upper Limb Orthopaedics (Shoulder & Elbow) to come to work for a leading private hospital in the UK.

Based in the town of Shepton Mallet, Somerset as part of this professional, friendly and compassionate team you will do everything you can to ensure the patient’s treatment is of the highest standard. The successful appointee will be required to perform orthopaedic surgical procedures and clinics on patients referred to the Hospital, including to note:
- Private carpal tunnel syndrome surgery and treatment
- Dupuytren’s contracture surgery and treatment
- Ganglion cyst removal, treatment and surgery
- Trapeziectomy surgery and treatment
- Trigger finger release surgery and treatment
You will have the freedom to focus on delivering safe, evidence-based surgery without the distractions of acute admissions or trauma rotas, while also benefiting from a supportive and forward-thinking team.
Whilst a typical full-time working week will comprise 40 hours (8 PAs), working patterns will be flexible over primarily a Monday to Saturday rota.

The Hospital

- A new outpatient / minor treatment extension is being built (as of late 2025) — a modular building to house five consulting rooms and two fully equipped procedure rooms
Requirements to apply?
- Entry on GMC Specialist Register within T&O
- Extensive training and proven operative experience in upper limb or shoulder & elbow surgery
- Evidence of excellent clinical outcomes and a strong commitment to patient safety
- A collaborative approach to multidisciplinary working and service development
- UK registerable Medical Degree.
- FRCS/MRCS
- Wide training and experience in Upper Limb Orthopaedics
- Experienced in large-volume joint surgeries
