The Role
Bundaberg Hospital is part of the Wide Bay Hospital and Health Service, serving a growing regional population of over 225,000. Bundaberg offers an exceptional balance of professional growth and lifestyle.
As a Consultant Obstetrics and Gynaecologist, you will:
- Provide high-quality, evidence-based obstetrics and gynaecology care across inpatient, outpatient, theatre, and on-call duties.
- Perform advanced procedures, including laparoscopic and vaginal reconstructive surgery, and complex obstetric management.
- Contribute to clinical governance, patient safety, and continuous quality improvement.
- Lead, mentor, and teach Doctors in Training, and medical students.
- Engage in service planning, outreach, and private practice opportunities (where applicable).
Essential Requirements:
- AHPRA Specialist registration or Eligibility
- Be a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (FRANZCOG), or an overseas-trained specialist with equivalent qualifications (UK, Ireland, Canada, USA, or New Zealand)
Desirable:
- Experience in a teaching hospital or regional health service.
- Ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and drive quality improvement initiatives.
- Active involvement in academic teaching and clinical supervision.
Expedited Pathway
Good news for UK & Irish specialists – the Medical Board of Australia has introduced an expedited pathway to specialist registration in Obstetrics & Gynaecology (no college assessment required) for doctors with:
- MRCOG (2007 onward) plus UK CCT, or
- MRCPI (2010 onward) plus CSCST (Ireland)
