About the Role
As a Consultant Ophthalmologist, you`ll be responsible for delivering specialist eye care through four outpatient clinics and two operating lists per week. You`ll perform general ophthalmology assessments, YAG and Argon laser treatments, and participate in the on-call roster (1 night per week, 1 weekend in 4). Your role will include teaching and mentoring junior doctors and contributing to ongoing quality improvement and service development.
You'll also play a vital role in patient-focused multidisciplinary care planning and provide timely, expert clinical advice to colleagues and the wider team. This is a rewarding role in which your skills and voice will be valued and impactful.

About you
To succeed in this role, you will bring:
- Vocational or Provisional Vocational Registration in Ophthalmology with the Medical Council of New Zealand
- Experience in general ophthalmology and familiarity with modern investigative and treatment techniques
- A current Annual Practicing Certificate
- A collaborative and compassionate approach to patient care
- A commitment to equity, quality improvement, and culturally safe practice
