We are seeking a Consultant in General Medicine for a friendly medicine team in a regional teaching hospital in Geraldton, Western Australia.
The Hospital has 66 beds for acute medical, surgical, paediatric and maternity patients, and a 24 hour Emergency Department.
The coastal setting and the ocean views make this is an ideal spot to settle into the relaxed Australian lifestyle with the family. The beach is just a 5 minute walk from the hospital.
- Experience in General Medicine, High Dependency Care & Coronary Care highly desirable
- FRACP, or assessed as “substantially comparable” in General Medicine
- Remuneration package AUD$320k–$406k pa + additional benefits (subject to level of experience)

The Role
As a General Physician joining a team of three other physicians, you will provide specialist expertise in the Department of Medicine, which includes the oversight and management of both inpatients and outpatients, including direct clinical care of patients in acute care and the High Dependency Unit, as well as taking referrals from other clinicians within the region. With your proven knowledge and experience in current developments within general medicine, you will also have an interest in medical education and have a willingness to be involved in and implement training programmes for junior medical staff and medical students.
All applicants should be registered (or eligible for registration) as a specialist with the Medical Board of Australia/Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA); be a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP); or alternatively have a specialist qualification deemed to be equivalent to the FRACP; or be on a documented pathway towards achieving these goals (i.e. assessed by RACP as "substantially comparable" in General Medicine).

Geraldton, situated in the Midwest Region of the State is a lovely coastal town some 260m (420km) south of the State's capital, Perth. Locals describe the climate as 'Mediterranean ' and the surface temperature of the sea often exceeds 25 degrees Celsius. Geraldton offers beachside living alongside a fantastic civic and rural context. It is a major minerals port and the town has grown affluent during the mining boom. Geraldton is famous for its sailing, kite, wind and wave surfing. Culturally it is a major centre of aboriginal art and heritage.
The West Australian Country Health Service is the largest in Australia and one of the biggest in the world, delivering comprehensive health care to more than 540,000 people including 49,000 Aboriginal people across a 2.5 million square kilometre area.
