Opportunity
On behalf of a Connacht Region University Hospital in Ireland, Head Medical are seeking a dedicated and experienced Consultant in ENT (Otolaryngology) to join their dynamic and growing medical team. This is an excellent opportunity to work in a leading hospital, providing high-quality patient care while contributing to the development of innovative medical practices in a supportive and progressive environment.
This role is not a substantive post but will be a relatively long contract of 12 months with a view of going permanent.

- Basic Salary scale between €231,215- €277,736 in accordance with the HSE 2023 Consultant contract
- Additional remuneration for on-call duties and overtime as applicable depending on rota (up to €19,000)

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Duties
-
Provide consultant-led ENT services covering general ENT, head & neck, audiology liaison, micro‑suction clinics, and cancer pathways.

Share on-call responsibilities across the main hospital sites

Will be expected to provide both Clinical and strategic leadership with the ENT Department and wider hospital to ensure delivery of high quality clinical care to all patients in keeping with the principles of care under National clinical programmes.

Leadership & Governance

Participate in departmental management, clinical governance, and quality improvement initiatives.

Contribute to postgraduate education, including registrar and medical student teaching.

Research & Audit
-
Engage in clinical audit and may pursue research; publications are advantageous.

Uphold professional standards, including compliance with HIQA and HSE policies.
Requirements to Apply

Full registration (or eligibility for registration) with the Irish Medical Council (IMC) – Specialist Division in ENT (Otolaryngology) must be active and in place to secure an interview

Extensive post-graduate Consultant experience in ENT

Completion of ENT specialist training (CCST or equivalent).

Willing to work across 2 hospital sites
