Based in Ireland's capital on behalf of one of the largest providers of women and newborn healthcare hospitals in the Republic of Ireland, Head Medical are seeking a dedicated and experienced Consultant Histopathologist - Speciality Interest in Perinatal Pathology to join their dynamic and growing medical team. This is an excellent opportunity to work in a leading hospital, providing high-quality patient care while contributing to the development of innovative medical practices in a supportive and progressive environment. The hospital promotes and supports normality in pregnancy and childbirth; the hospital also provides a comprehensive range of highly specialised care in high-risk maternal and fetal medicine, newborn medicine, anaesthesia and gynaecology. This hospital is recognised for tertiary services including maternal and fetal medicine, neonatology, gynaecology and peri-operative medicine (caring for almost 9,000 women, with more than 1,000 neonatal admissions and almost 6000 gynaecology operations per annum.

What’s on Offer for You?

  • Basic Salary scale between €231,215- €277,036  in accordance with the HSE 2023 Consultant contract
  • Additional remuneration for on-call duties and overtime as applicable depending on rota (up to €19,000)
  • Highly flexible contract that enables consultants opportunity for a variety of different work patterns
  • Up to €12,000 CME and €8,000 research grant
  • 30 days annual leave
  • 10 public holidays
  • Continuous Medical Education leave
  • Hours: 37 hours per week, plus on-call supplements

Key Responsibilities

  • Will work in the Hospital as part of a multidisciplinary team under the direction of the Master/CEO.

  • Will work as part of the Laboratory Medicine Division within the Hospital.

  • Will possess the necessary skill-mix to address current deficiencies.

  • Involvement in Clinical Audit Committee and Ethics Committee as required

  • Will provide clinical leadership in MDT context - hand-over, ward-rounds, clinical risk & morbidity/mortality

  • Responsibility for the organisation and provision of Perinatal Pathology.

  • Responsibility for education, training and audit

  • Continuous Professional Development.

Requirements to Apply

  • Full registration (or eligibility for registration) with the Irish Medical Council (IMC)—Specialist Division in Histopathology.

  • Should be fully trained to the level of Consultant Histopathologist.

  • Will be expected to demonstrate leadership
