We're seeking a Consultant in General Medicine to be based in Gladstone, Central Queensland - a regional city which offers an ideal lifestyle and is the southern gateway to the Great Barrier Reef.
The health service provides health care to the Central Queensland catchment area of approx 250,000, a number which is expected to continue to grow.

The Hospital and Role
Gladstone Hospital is a level 3 facility which at present has 70 inpatient beds and plans to increase more bed numbers in due course. It offers a range of general and specialist inpatient and outpatient services including emergency, general medicine and surgery, basic orthopaedic, clinical investigations, obstetrics and maternity care, gynaecology, high dependency and coronary care unit, palliative care, medical imaging, pathology, and paediatrics.
Gladstone Hospital is aspiring to develop level 4 clinical services and currently employs 282 full-time equivalent staff delivering services across acute, planned, community and primary care. A new Emergency Department constructed in 2020 supporting emergency care 24/7 to the growing population. The hospital ward block accommodates a 35-bedded general medical and surgical ward, a four bedded High Dependency Unit, Maternity ward, Children’s ward and Nursery.
Working as a General Medical Consultant, you'll provide professional leadership to medical staff within the department, and to be an active contributor to the multidisciplinary patient care team. In CQ Health (Central Queensland Health) they provide health care as a single service across multiple hospitals.
You will be working with the clinical team, Director and Gladstone Hospital to provide range of clinical activities including 24/7 oncall activity, in-patient care, out-patient clinics and offer support to clinical measurement team for Exercise Stress Test. The role includes providing support to Hospital in the Home (HITH) for medical patients.
Requirements
Applicants should be registered (or eligible for registration) as a specialist with the Medical Board of Australia and be a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) or equivalent as an overseas trained specialist who has completed their training in either the UK, Ireland, Canada, USA (ABIM certified) or New Zealand.
