Auckland is only a 90 minute drive north and Tauranga is just over an 1hr to the east.  The west coast and east coast beaches are within easy reach at weekends from Raglan, Mount Maunganui, Waihi Beach and of course, the stunning Coromandel Peninsula. And don't forget the 18 tranquil lakes towards Rotorua, also just 1hr 30mins away.

Enjoy the premier ski fields during ski season at Turangi and Whakapapa. Nearby Lake Karapiro hosts national rowing and dragonboat regattas each summer. The FMG Stadium Waikato hosts a range of top quality sports from rugby league, rugby sevens and football. Seddon Park is home to cricket in the Waikato, with large cricket events in the summer (the Blackcaps taking on visiting international teams). It's also not far to drive to Hobbiton, which is a great place to take the family for a day out.

Medical Registration

Ideally, you will hold FRACP and full Vocational registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand (MCNZ).

If you are an overseas Specialist Gastroenterologist, you will hold equivalent specialist qualifications from either Australia (FRACP), the UK (via CCT), Ireland (via CCT), Canada (FRCPC) or USA (Board certification ABIM) that will enable Provisional Vocational (long term) registration or Locum Tenens (short term up to 12 months) registration.

These are the two pathways for specialist physicians in NZ and we can assist with medical registration and the work visa, if successfully appointed

** Primary Source Verification using EPIC **

A Doctor’s relevant qualifications must be verified by ECFMG using the EPIC system on behalf of the Medical Council of New Zealand.

If you are committed to working in New Zealand, we encourage doctors to start this process off as soon as possible if you hold qualifications from outside NZ.  Candidates are invited to log on to EPIC and complete this step online.  EPIC verifies your identity and your qualifications directly with you.

Log on to EPIC here and read the FAQs section about how to get started.
