Head Medical is seeking a dedicated and collaborative Specialist Diagnostic Radiologist with expertise in Breast Imaging to join the Diagnostic Breast Imaging Service in Hobart, Tasmania.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a highly regarded multidisciplinary team delivering comprehensive breast imaging and assessment services to the Tasmanian community. The successful applicant will contribute to a modern, patient-focused service and work alongside experienced radiologists, surgeons, oncologists, pathologists, radiographers, and breast care nurses.

The Role

The role provides an opportunity to contribute to the development of a contemporary public breast imaging service and to work alongside experienced multidisciplinary teams supporting patients through screening, assessment, and diagnosis.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing specialist outpatient breast radiology services and high-quality diagnostic imaging care.
  • Conducting radiological examinations, interpreting findings, and providing expert clinical advice.
  • Contributing to multidisciplinary review, quality assurance, peer review and continuous improvement.
  • Supporting teaching and supervision of undergraduate and postgraduate medical staff and trainees.
  • Contributing to research, service development, and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Working collaboratively with colleagues across the Tasmanian Health Service to support positive patient outcomes.
  • Providing compassionate, patient-centred care and ensuring patients and families receive clear and appropriate information.

Competency in breast imaging, including biopsy and localisation procedures, is highly desirable.

Requirements

We welcome applications from Specialist Diagnostic Radiologists with strong experience and an interest in Breast Imaging.  Applicants should either hold an existing specialist assessment outcome or be eligible for Australia's Expedited Specialist Pathway (ESP).

Candidates should also have:

  • Significant consultant-level experience in breast imaging, ideally including image-guided breast intervention; and
  • Fellowship training in Breast Imaging, Women's Imaging or Breast Radiology, or a demonstrated subspecialty interest in breast imaging alongside broader diagnostic radiology experience.

Expedited Specialist Pathway

This opportunity is particularly suited to Diagnostic Radiologists who are eligible for the Expedited Specialist Pathway (ESP) or who already hold a specialist assessment outcome.

Diagnostic Radiologists holding the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC) Specialist Certificate in Diagnostic Radiology may be eligible for the ESP.
