The Role
Child and Youth Mental Health Service (CYMHS) supports mental health care for young people aged between 0-25years. The service line has a diverse portfolio that supports care across the identified age range and across primary and tertiary levels of the health care system. Services range from acute psychiatric inpatient (0-18yrs and 18-25yrs), acute/crisis care (Access) and a range of community care services (Adolescent Day Program, Eating Disorders, Early Psychosis, CYMHS Continuing Care, Young Adult Continuing Care). In addition, the service line also supports two services that work primarily in the primary care tier of health services – Head to Health Kids Queensland - Gold Coast (0-12yrs) and Headspace In Reach (12-25yrs). CYMHS also has strong links with Griffith University and Bond University Medical Schools which offers opportunities for teaching and research.
Requirements
Applicants should be registered (or eligible for registration) as a specialist with the Medical Board of Australia and be a Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (FRANZCP) or equivalent as an overseas trained specialist who has completed their training in either the UK, Ireland, Canada, USA (ABPN certified) or New Zealand.
The Medical Board of Australia implemented a new expedited pathway to specialist registration in December 2024, eliminating the need for a specialist assessment with a specialist medical college for those with an accepted qualification in Psychiatry. The only accepted qualifications are MRCPsych and a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) after 2007. Now is the time to apply for a new role.
