The Role and Hospital
You will be a member of the Child and Adolescent Mental Health team (CAMHS) and provide support to Wangaratta team as required and clinical services to the Wodonga team.  Provision of supervision, support and direction for the multidisciplinary Community Team as well as ensure effective continuity of care and promote effective admission, discharge and case management practices.  You will participate in and contribute to clinical teaching, providing specialist support and supervision to fellows, registrars and Junior Medical officers (MO).  You will also provide teaching to medical students from the University of Melbourne and students from other disciplines and institutions.

With more than 3000 staff, it supports an outer catchment population of 300,000 and covers the North-East of Victoria and Southern New South Wales. The health service encompasses two primary hospital campuses and an additional 22 sites, delivering a diverse range of emergency, surgical, women’s and children’s, community, mental health, allied health, and sub-acute services. Our growth continues with the opening of a state-of-the-art Emergency Department in 2024, and excitingly, the construction of a new hospital at our Albury site by 2028. 

Requirements
Applicants should be registered (or eligible for registration) as a specialist with the Medical Board of Australia and be a Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (FRANZCP) or equivalent as an overseas trained specialist who has completed their training in either the UK, Ireland, Canada, USA (ABPN certified) or New Zealand.

The Medical Board of Australia implemented a new expedited pathway to specialist registration in December 2024, eliminating the need for a specialist assessment with a specialist medical college for those with an accepted qualification in Psychiatry. The only accepted qualifications are MRCPsych and a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) after 2007. Now is the time to apply for a new role.

Albury Wodonga is surrounded by a rural landscape which brings with it a range of tourist activities including the Rutherglen wine region, Milawa Fine Food trails and historic Beechworth. There is easy day access to the Falls Creek ski fields, Mount Hotham and Dinner Plain Resorts, not to mention the mountain biking trails of Mt Beauty, Yackandandah, Beechworth and Bright. For hiking enthusiasts, we also sit close to Victoria’s High Country, the Kosciuszko Alpine Region and Buffalo National Park.
