The Role and Service
As the Consultant Cardiology you will provide high-quality specialist cardiology services across inpatient, outpatient, and procedural settings at the Launceston General Hospital (LGH). Key responsibilities include:
- Delivering comprehensive cardiology assessment, diagnosis, and management for admitted and referred patients
- Performing and interpreting a broad range of cardiac investigations and interventional procedures appropriate to your scope of practice
- Contributing to after-hours on-call rosters and acute cardiac response
- Providing clinical supervision and education to junior medical staff, registrars, and students
The Northern Heart Centre will provide a new 24-bed cardiac inpatient unit, two cardiac catheterisation labs, and dedicated diagnostic testing and monitoring facilities, improving the capacity and quality of cardiac services for Northern Tasmanians.
Requirements
Applicants should be registered (or eligible for registration) as a specialist with the Medical Board of Australia and be a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of Physicians (FRACP) or equivalent as an overseas trained specialist who has completed their training in either the UK, Ireland, Canada, USA (ABCM certified) or New Zealand.
