The location of this job is in Alice Springs, Northern Territory.

The role is to provide first class specialist care in Internal Medicine to patients located at a number of regional areas.

Your responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

  • Leading from the front.
  • Providing high quality safe inpatient, outpatient and outreach clinical services.
  • Initiate and partake in quality management activities, performance appraisal, personal and Departmental continuing education programs.
  • Ensure adequate supervision of and participation in teaching programs for junior medical staff, including advanced trainees and medical students.
  • Undertake Clinical Audit activities and research as appropriate.

Applicants with training in a sub-specialty area of Internal Medicine; particularly cardiovascular disease, or diabetes or respiratory disease or infectious diseases or gastroenterology with competence in endoscopy will be highly regarded.

You will be a Consultant in General Medicine with appropriate specialist qualifications. If you do not have Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians, then its equivalent from another country is satisfactory. Your communication skills will be first class and you will enjoy dealing with people from all walks of life and cultures in an ever changing environment.  If you have experience or an interest in indigenous health then even better - although not essential.
