Timaru is a small city on the east coast of the South Island and it has long been viewed as a friendly, safe place to raise a family. In 2010, it was rated the most affordable city in New Zealand for homebuyers. The district has excellent primary and secondary schools, a low crime rate and offers freedom from city stresses. With no traffic jams and less time commuting, you can spend more time with family and friends. As well as being surrounded by a number of picturesque towns and smaller rural settlements, this city boasts the added advantage of being only a two hours’ drive from the major university cities of Dunedin and Christchurch (which has an international airport).
