In June 2021, I started working as a general surgeon at United Family Healthcare in Beijing, China. Such a big move is complicated, at times difficult but it has been worth it. Throughout the process, I have been helped greatly by Amanda Gregory and Eilidh Angus of Head Medical.
Amanda and her team assisted me throughout the interview and recruitment process and acted as a liaison with United Family Healthcare Human Resources department. Their previous experience with placing people in this organisation was very valuable.
Perhaps the greatest challenge of the move was negotiating the complex regulatory requirements of living and working as a doctor in China. Each item and their correct order were clarified for me as I went through this process.
Having now settled in to my new life and career in Beijing I can thoroughly recommend that colleagues seriously consider taking similar a similar step if a new challenge and a new adventure is what you are seeking.
