In 2007 I decided to spend a year working overseas and found my dream job, CareFlight Aero-medical Retrieval Registrar in Australia, advertised on Head Medical’s website. I found Head Medical to be invaluable in helping me realise my dream. They streamlined the whole application process and made the notoriously tricky Australian Immigration process a breeze, a task I would have struggled with alone. The fact that I had a dedicated Consultant dealing with my application meant that it was very efficient and personalised; I could ring and ask questions whenever I needed help or advice. I found the team at Head Medical was genuinely interested in my experience whilst in Australia and I really liked getting emails to see how I was getting on.
The job has exceeded my expectations. I have learnt a great deal and feel I have become a better Doctor for my experience. The tasks have varied enormously; transporting critically ill patients from all over the South Pacific on the Lear Jet, flying in the Helicopter to the scene of a Motor Vehicle Accident and treating patients at the roadside, transferring children, adults and pregnant patients between medical facilities in Australia and further afield. It has also afforded me the chance to travel around Australia, South Pacific and Southeast Asia, both for work and leisure.
