The island a self-governing Overseas Territory of the United Kingdom located in the South Atlantic approximately 4,000 miles from the UK. The island’s population is around 4,500 and it has a typical small island economy with a high import dependency, a narrow economic base and a large public sector
The Role
The 22-bed General Hospital in the capital, Jamestown, covers all areas of acute medical and surgical care. Responsible for out-patient clinics at various locations every week you will cover various clinical needs for adults and children, including diabetes, hypertension and cardio-pulmonary disease which are highly prevalent on the island.
Taking care of in-patients, you will be on the primary on-call rota (approximately 1 in 4) in the triage and attendance of urgent care and emergencies. There will be on-call cover from specialist colleagues in anaesthetics/intensive care, general surgery, and obstetrics/gynaecology. You will also attend clinical emergencies and urgent care duties, incident management, outbreak response and other healthcare emergencies. This role reports into the Chief Medical Officer.
Requirements
Full GMC registration or equivalent and good standing with that body.
GP with a broad range of skills, happy to operate in remote and challenging conditions, showcasing your adaptability and experience across varied medical situations.
