Specialist Anaesthetist/Intensivist - St Helena, South Atlantic
2-year contract – departing UK late September 2021 (preferably)
Enjoying unique lifestyle opportunities, St Helena Island is a self-governing overseas territory of the United Kingdom. The 28-bed General Hospital in the capital, Jamestown, covers all areas of acute medical and surgical care.
Focused on preoperative preparation of surgical patients, you will provide anaesthetics to adult and paediatric patients alike, which would include general anaesthesia, neuraxial blocks and axillary plexus blocks. Neonatal cases may also arise. Dealing with the resuscitation and stabilisation of emergency and IC patients you will also handle the transport of acutely ill and injured patients.
With full GMC registration or equivalent and good standing with that body, you have ATLS, APLS FRCA (or DESA) or equivalent. You have worked at consultant level or as Senior Specialist Registrar with substantial postgraduate experience that includes intensive care.
