The Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Anaesthetist to join our dynamic Cardiothoracic and ORL anaesthesia team. This is a permanent role to commence ideally in January 2024 or as soon as possible.
The Department of Cardiothoracic and ORL Anaesthesia, based at Auckland provides anaesthesia services to New Zealand's largest cardiothoracic surgical unit. We provide anaesthesia services for patients undergoing:
·Cardiac and thoracic surgical procedures including mechanical support and heart and lung transplantation
·Interventional cardiology and electrophysiology procedures
·Otorhinolaryngological procedures – day stay cases to quaternary head and neck surgeries
·Perioperative echocardiography (including transthoracic, transoesophageal, and 3D echocardiography)
The department is also integrally involved with training and education, as an active ANZCA training site for senior house officers and registrars, and with an active Fellowship training program. The department has active quality assurance and research programs. We enjoy a collaborative working relationship with the other anaesthesia departments and colleagues at the hospital, including combined professional development, quality, and education sessions.
Important Skills
You will need to have: ·Clinical experience in some or all of the areas listed above·Be registered or be eligible for specialist registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand. Please note, if you are not currently registered in New Zealand and have overseas medical qualifications, you will be required to provide source verification of your qualifications for your registration application.
