Opportunity 

To provide high-quality clinical care to adult patients with mental health disorders across community settings within Mayo Mental Health Community Services.

The registrar will work as part of a multidisciplinary team, contributing to the assessment, diagnosis, and management of service users while developing advanced clinical and professional skills.

This post will be based across Ballinasloe's Community Services.

A Driving Licence is essential to apply for this role.

  • The salary scale for the post is

    68,891 71,544 74,133 76,039 78,577 81,126

  • Additional remuneration for on-call duties and overtime as applicable depending on rota
  • 30 days annual leave
  • 10 public holidays
  • Hours: 37 hours per week, plus on-call supplements
  • The current vacancy available is temporary (3 months) and full-time with the possibility of extension. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide assessment, diagnosis, and treatment for adult patients with a range of psychiatric conditions.

  • Participate in the on-call rota for General Adult Psychiatry (covering inpatients, emergency referrals, and liaison psychiatry).

  • Contribute to care planning and case management in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams (MDTs).

  • Conduct regular ward rounds, outpatient clinics, and community follow-up clinics under consultant supervision.

  • Liaise with primary care teams, emergency services, and voluntary/community organisations involved in mental health support.

Requirements to Apply

  • Full registration in place with the Irish Medical Council (IMC) 

  • A minimum of 24 months of post-internship clinical experience in Psychiatry is required.

  • Able to take up the appointment by Aug/Sep 2025 (Must have a critical skills employment permit in place or permission to live and work in Ireland)

Desirable.

  • Prior experience working in an Irish or UK healthcare setting.

  • Participation in quality improvement or patient safety initiatives.
