  • Seeking a Consultant Psychiatrist for the Rehabilitation Centre (Auckland)
  • Permanent, full-time (40 hours per week), Monday to Friday, with flexibility available for the right candidate.
  • Point Chevalier location, close to public transport links

About the Role

This role will provide a specialist psychiatric input as a member of a well-established and stable multi-disciplinary team. This will include involvement in urgent and planned assessments, planning and delivering care and treatment to whaiora (patients) in the context of their whānau.

Key responsibilities:

· Bio-psycho-social assessments with a psychiatric rehabilitation and recovery focus .

· Psychiatric consultation to multidisciplinary team members.

· Psychiatric expertise in all aspects of the care throughout the day-to-day operations of the service, e.g. clinical reviews, daily planning, handovers

· Liaise with other medical services including physicians and GPs.

· Act as Responsible Clinician for clients under the MH Act.

· Participate in the on call after hours SMO roster.

About the Team/Service/ Location

The Rehabilitation Centre is a specialist inpatient rehabilitation service for 40 people aged 18-65 years. The majority of people are under 30 years and all experience serious mental illness with associated high and complex needs. Many have significant physical health needs. We provide a therapeutic, recovery-oriented environment utilising evidence-based practice in response to peoples’ clinical and rehabilitation needs.

About you

To be successful in this role:

· You will be vocationally registered with the Medical Council of New Zealand with a current Practising Certificate or be eligible for registration (Please note, if you are an overseas specialist, you will be required to provide source verification of your qualifications for your registration application.)

· You will also be experienced in providing a psychiatric expertise to people experiencing severe mental ill-health and demonstrate a commitment to achieving equitable outcomes for Māori. 

· You will also hold a full and clean driver’s license as this role involves some community work.
