Head Medical are seeking post foundation doctors keen to secure an out of programme experience within Paediatrics commencing July/August 2024. You will be based in Whangarei Hospital, sub-tropical New Zealand.

The Role
The Hospital is a 246 bed Regional hospital providing secondary care services to a population of approximately 194,000. You will be part of a dynamic team working closely with Consultants, allowing you to widen your practice as your skills grow
You will gain excellent experience of general paediatrics in a provincial centre which includes a busy inpatient unit, outpatients and a level 2 special care nursery (SCBU). You will be part of a dynamic team working closely with Consultants, skilled nursing team and allied health allowing you to widen your practice as your skills grow. The Paediatric service is supported by specialist ED and ICU Services with access to radiology and laboratory services. There is an active clinical trailing programme with didactic sessions, interactive based teaching, journal club and video conferencing.

Its rich in Maori and European history, some of the oldest traces of Maori settlement can be found here and newcomers will experience a real connection with the culture and way of life.
With its high sunshine hours and fantastic natural environment, including white sandy beaches and native forests, it has the reputation of being one of the country’s premier tourist and lifestyle destinations, and is a popular holiday choice for both Kiwis and international visitors. You can enjoy al fresco dining, world class scuba diving, fishing, sailing, golfing, surfing, swimming with dolphins and so much more. Popular water recreation areas include the Bay of Islands and Poor Knights Islands Reserves.
Whangarei has a busy domestic airport, as well as easy access transport links to Auckland, New Zealand’s largest city which is only a two-hour drive away
