Our Organisation
We are Te Whatu Ora Te Toka Tumai Auckland, part of the overarching organisation for New Zealand’s national health service. We provide health and disability services to more than half a million people living in central Auckland, regional services for Northland and greater Auckland, and specialist national services for the whole of New Zealand. Our main sites are located in central Auckland.
Te Toka Tumai is a dedicated paediatric healthcare service and major national teaching centre, providing whānau-centred care for tamariki/children and rangatahi/young people. We provide a wide range of complex medical, surgical, cardiac and mental health services for children and young people throughout New Zealand and the South Pacific. The hospital aims to lead the nation in providing world class equitable healthcare, paediatric training and research, in an environment where kaimahi/staff can flourish personally and professionally.
About the role
We are seeking a collaborative specialist to work in for our Paediatric Dermatology service. The service provides a comprehensive out-patient service for children with specialist dermatology needs both locally and nationally, some of which can be delivered virtually. There is opportunity for expansion of a Paediatric Dermatology outreach service in the future. The service includes some in-patient care and consultations for tamariki admitted under other specialist services. The service provides a monthly laser operating list. There is close collaboration with the adult Dermatology service at Te Toka Tumai.
We are open to discussing start date, hours and patterns of work with the right candidate. We are also open to applications for fixed term opportunities and candidates approaching the end of their training in Paediatric Dermatology.
Important Skills
To be successful in the role you will be a fully trained Dermatologist (or Paediatrician with experience in Paediatric Dermatology) capable of providing the full suite of services within the speciality of Paediatric Dermatology in a tertiary paediatric hospital. Consideration will be given to candidates close to the end of their accredited training. Training in laser therapy is desirable, but not essential.
We have aspirations to transform clinical outcomes, particularly for tamariki/children and rangatahi/young people Māori and we are seeking a specialist who wishes to play a part in this change, supporting and empowering our kaimahi/people through the process.
We are seeking candidates with:
- Vocational registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand, or be eligible to become vocationally registered
- Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians, or equivalent
