About the Role
Hauora a Toi Bay of Plenty are investing in the development of Renal services to support people living with renal disease across the Bay of Plenty. This includes establishment of a dedicated Renal service multidisciplinary team and the commissioning of additional haemodialysis capacity both in Tauranga and at Whakatāne.
Currently there are four Physicians working across renal and acute general medicine and we are now recruiting two more SMOs to join the service. These roles will share cover of two acute general medical inpatient teams (1:3) and have dedicated non-acute time for sub-speciality nephrology service delivery. The roles cover both Tauranga and Whakatāne as well as linking with wider renal services across Te Manawa Taki (Midland) region.
About You
We are looking for a high calibre clinician with excellent clinical and interpersonal skills and an interest in developing renal services across the district.
An understanding and experience in Māori Health and the growing ethnic diversity in the region would be beneficial.
Key requirements include the ability to work with, and when necessary, lead, multidisciplinary teams. They must be committed to patient safety and good clinical governance. In addition, we seek an individual who has the skills to foster a learning culture across undergraduate and postgraduate staff, with the support of the Bay of Plenty clinical school and the University of Auckland. The school also provides clinical research opportunities.
